Current PhD Students

  • Jordan Tabor

Jordan Tabor received her B.S. degree in textile technology and M.S. in textile engineering from the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State University in 2015 and 2016, respectively. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in fiber and polymer science at North Carolina State University. Her research interests are cross-functional including topics such as technical textiles and adaptive and responsive textiles. Her current research focuses on designing and fabricating wearable, textile-based sensors for biomedical applications, specifically prosthetics.

  • Kony Chatterjee

Kony Chatterjee received her B. Tech. in fibers and textile processing technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai (2015). She obtained her M.S. in textile engineering from North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles (2017), where she is a PhD student in the Fiber and Polymer Science program with a minor in materials science and engineering. Her research interests include textile-based sensors, actuators, and energy devices. Her current research focuses on creating textiles for personal thermal comfort.

  • Shuzhen Wei

Shuzhen Wei received her B.S. degree in textile chemistry from Jiangnan University, China (2016), and her M.S. in textile chemistry from the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State University in 2018. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in fiber and polymer science at North Carolina State University. Her research interests are soft actuators and their applications in smart wearables. Her last research project in this lab was biomimetic structure designs for dielectric elastomer actuators. Now her research focuses on designing and implementing fiber-based textile actuators.
